Sustainable surface protection material now included in the National Environmental Database
Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in construction, renovation and maintenance. It’s not just the structural materials that matter; temporary products such as surface protection materials must also contribute to reducing the environmental impact. Primaverde, a supplier of surface protection materials for the construction and renovation sectors, has achieved a first in this field: PrimaCover Standard is the first protection fleece in the Netherlands to be awarded an EPD certificate (Environmental Product Declaration). The product has thus been officially included in the National Environmental Database (NMD).
Transparent environmental performance through an independent LCA
To obtain the certificate, Primaverde commissioned NIBE to conduct a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment. The EPD certificate provides an internationally recognized and transparent measure of environmental performance. This allows clients, such as government agencies, housing authorities and architects, to see exactly what impact the product has. They can also easily compare products using the Environmental Cost Indicator.
The MKI value for PrimaCover Standard has been set at 0.10 EUR per m², which demonstrates the product’s sustainable performance in bidding processes.
Durable and strong surface protection material
PrimaCover Standard is made of 100% recycled polyester fibers and features a wear-resistant PE top layer. The production process utilizes self-generated energy and reuses waste materials. Thanks to its robust design, the protection fleece has a long lifespan and is suitable for reuse on multiple projects.
Its self-adhesive properties ensure that PrimaCover Standard adheres securely to fully dried floors and stairs. Thanks to its shock-absorbing structure, it provides effective protection against dirt, moisture and impacts, such as falling tools. With just a 10-centimeter overlap, it also creates a liquid-proof barrier over larger areas.

Contractors and finishing specialists who prioritize sustainability have a clear advantage with PrimaCover Standard. Because the product is listed in the National Environmental Database, it can easily be included in project calculations and sustainability reports. This provides immediate value in EMVI and BREEAM processes.
